What is Reiki

Reiki is a Japanese technique that is used to heal physical and mental trauma, and to support mental clarity and spiritual well-being. In Japanese, the word "rei" refers to a higher intelligence that permeates all living and nonliving entities and guides the inherent functioning of the universe. The word "ki" refers to the nonphysical energy that flows through everything that is alive, including plants, animals, and human beings—because of this, ki is also often called "life force energy," and is known as qi or chi from other lineages. The combination of these two words is what defines reiki as "spiritually guided life-force energy."

Effects of Reiki

Reiki treatments offer many benefits to the recipients. Here are some of the effects that have been reported:

  • Relaxes

  • Reduces tension and stress

  • Boosts the immune system

  • Reduces blood pressure

  • Speeds up healing

  • Increases energy

My Reiki Methods: What you can expect from a session with me: I use Aromatherapy, Crystals and Chakras to guide me through the session. First: I do a energy scan to see what chakra is blocked, once located the crystal will be placed on the blocked area, essential oils will be placed on area's needed and our work will begin. Reiki will last anywhere between 40-60 minutes. Longer sessions are available for a more through scan of the chakra and a take home yoga practice for that specific chakra that is blocked.

Hands: The Reiki practitioner places their hands on the client using light touch and no pressure or placing their hands just above the client”s body. They work by drawing in the energy of the universe and channeling this positive, healing energy to the client. The client may feel this as a warm or tingling sensation in the body.

Chakras, Reiki and Aromatherapy

There are seven chakras or energy centers in different parts of the body. Each chakra is associated with a group of organs. Together, keep a person well. The hand positions used in Reiki, cover and treat all major chakras. When Reiki is used with essential oils related to the seven major chakras, together they create a powerful union. Reiki treatments clear the chakras of negative energy and blockages, restoring the ki or chi and helping the person to heal.

Reiki and Crystals

My method of Reiki is with crystals to enhance the Reiki session. Crystals work through the human energy system- that is the chakras, and aura-and not through the physical body. Crystals enhance the placebo effect (where something has healing effect because it changes chemicals in the brain which make us feel better).

What might I experience?

"I feel very refreshed and seem to be thinking more clearly." "I think I fell asleep." "I can't believe how hot your hands got!" "I feel more relaxed than even after a massage." "My headache is gone." These are some of things people typically say after a Reiki session.

People often comment how comforting they find the experience of Reiki to feel that they are hovering in a threshold state of consciousness, simultaneously aware of their surroundings and deeply indrawn. Some people fall into a deep, sleeplike meditative state.  The most common experience is an almost immediate release of stress and a feeling of deep relaxation.
Besides the immediate experience of the Reiki, you may notice other changes that continue to unfold as the day goes on: perhaps stronger digestion, a sense of being more centered and poised and less reactive, and sleeping deeply that night.
